There is no product known to man that cannot be cut with
Abrasive Jet Cutting technology.
In explosive atmospheres, underwater or radioactive environments, Our
Contract Cutting Service will use remote controlled systems operating at
pressure up to 2750 bar to cut concrete, steel or composite structures to form
access ways or for controlled demolition.
Case History:
During reclamation work at a disused chemical works six No
1.7 metre diameter steel storage tanks were found buried on the site. The tanks
contained carbon disulphide in liquid and vapour form and they had been
filled with PFA grout in an effort to make them safe. The requirement was to cut
open the tanks remove the PFA grout and dispose of all the materials safely.
Working in conjunction with Brock PLC, RGL
devised a special frame on which to mount the remote controlled Jetnife cutting
head and this was to be used in conjunction with a long reach excavator to
remove the ends of each tank. Great care had to be exercised to void the danger
of explosion during the setting up and cutting operations. As it was required to
remove the end of each tank cleanly a 360 degree cut was made on each occasion
and this was very successful. The entire project was completed successfully on
schedule and without incident.
